Hero Honda aims to launch bikes in Rs 12,500-15,000 range
World’s largest two wheeler manufacturer Hero Honda is facing intense competition in the domestic market from rivals including Bajaj Auto.
The company has now announced their plans to build a motorcycle that will sell for Rs 12,500-15,000. The plan is to create a brand new segment in the Indian motorcycle market to generate more sales.
At the moment, the cheapest motorcycle product in India sells for around Rs. 30,000. Pawan Kant Munjal, the managing director of Hero Honda was quoted as saying to media personals: “We are evaluating the entire scenario and a possible $300-350 vehicle is on our radar. It is in the broad spectrum of our work. Although there is nothing on the drawing board yet, we are seriously looking at it.”
Hero Honda seems to be inspired by the Indian government’s Automotive Mission Plan which would provide the automakers some concessions.
The plan states: “Domestically, the focus should be on developing and selling appropriate products for the large population of the country. The products could include cost-effective small carriers, strong rugged vehicles for the rural market and $300-350 motorcycles.”
Hero Honda also launched their latest bike model named Splendor NXG.

Sony HD Radio XDR-S3HD and XT-100HD coming in July
Japanese consumer electronics maker Sony has said that they would be launching their HD Radio products this coming July.
With this, they would become the latest electronics company to try to make the next-generation digital radio technology a standard feature in audio products.
They would be initially launching two products. XDR-S3HD would be a $200 tabletop AM/FM/HD radio while the XT-100HD would be a $100 tuner module for Sony’s existing car stereo systems.
HD Radio technology enables the radio stations to deliver extra music content on up to four side channels. This technology has been adopted by as many as 1,200 radio stations.
However, the consumer requires a compatible radio receiver to hear HD Radio signals.
As per sources, there are already around 50 HD Radio products available in the market. A brand name like Sony would definitely help spread the popularity.
Andrew Sivori, a senior product marketing manager at Sony’s personal audio division spoke about their upcoming products: “Digital terrestrial radio is the last frontier in audio. And it’s coming to price points that are becoming more reasonable for consumers.”

ubuntu experience
Yesterday I installed ubuntu “breezy badger”…..installation worked fine as it was installed on the separate partition….as its compulsory to create a separate partition for installing any Linux flavour be it Red Hat or Suse.I used partition magic for partitioning my drive.
I was not sure whether my internet will work on it, as I am using usb connection for connecting to internet . With ethernet card …..the internet is gauranteed to work.
After installing I straight away went to Network Settings and just entered the open DNS address :
4.2.2.1
4.2.2.2
then i opened the built in Firefox and jackpot it worked…..wow.
The one more thing that I like about ubuntu is that it automatically installs all the drivers for every possible device eg. usb, bluetooth, nvidia etc.
It also shows my windows partition on the desktop and i can easily access the files…afterall ubutu is windows friendly.
