gtalk lacking some features

The feature that i would like to incorporate is :when someone comes online, it should give a notification.

And the thing i hate most about the gtalk is its voip feature, that signal thing is really creepy. When the signal goes down, the voice begins to break.

update: there is a notification feature available in the settings…..that are off by default.

although gtalk should have some feature like ‘appear offline’.

There is also no provision for the rooms like in yahoo messenger where the people of similar interest can chat with each other, gtalk is restricting communication to only the people we know.
