Broadband in India
February 26, 2008
I must say its really a pity that we here in India are lacking the bandwidth which is so much essential in carrying our tasks efficiently. As far as I know only Bharti-airtel is providing the max. plan of 8 mbps which is average all over the world. Moreover, broadband is very costly here, they don’t understand it’s not a luxury anymore, it has become a necessity.
TRAI is trying hard to warn the ISPs to provide atleast 80% of the speed they mention in their ads.
Recently I have seen an article that mentions a fiber optic cable is being laid from India to France to provide high speed internet.
Another news article says that Japan has launched a satellite to provide high speed internet for Asia. This satellite provides internet to remote locations and when the ground network fails, it will act as a backup. This will make the fastest internet in the world providing 150 times the bandwidth of today.
