Google indexing confusing

When i thought that i have understood the indexing done by google, it again stumped me. I have 17 published posts on my blog and it is indexing only 9 posts. All my latest posts are indexed but not the previous one’s. I don’t know what is wrong with it. If some one reading this post can help me out. I know indexing is such a vast topic and i will never be able to completely understand it. If someone knows of the google indexing tips please help me out.
